Terms of use
Last updated 14 October 2026
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company name] Ltd, [registered address]. By using Chapterling you agree to them. If you're under 18, please read them with a parent or carer. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Using Chapterling
- Readers under 13 need a parent or carer's permission, and the grown-up should set up the account with their email.
- Readers under 18 need a parent or carer's permission to buy anything.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Please don't misuse Chapterling: no trying to break it, overload it, get into other people's accounts, or use it for anything unlawful.
Your reading and notes
Your notes and journal entries belong to you. You give us permission to store and show them to you so the app works. Chapterling trusts what you tell it about your reading; it never checks up on you.
Story Stones, coins and items
Coins and Story Stones are earned in the app, and Story Stones can also be bought. They and the items you get with them are a licence to use digital content in Chapterling. They have no cash value, can't be swapped for money, and can't be transferred to anyone else. We show prices up front, there are no random paid rewards, and Story Stone purchases have a monthly limit.
Chapterling Plus
Monthly and yearly Plus renew automatically at the price shown when you bought it until you cancel. You can cancel any time in You โ Settings โ Manage Plus; Plus then stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. We'll tell you in advance if the price is going to change, and you can cancel before it does. Lifetime Plus is a one-off payment and lasts for as long as Chapterling runs.
Your right to cancel
Usually you have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. Because Plus and Story Stones are digital content supplied straight away, we ask you to agree to that before you pay, and once supply starts you lose the 14-day right to cancel. If something you bought is faulty or isn't as described, you still have your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: tell us and we'll fix it or refund you.
All prices include VAT. Payments are taken by Stripe.
If things go wrong
We work hard to keep Chapterling running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We don't exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Ending
You can stop using Chapterling and delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why. If we ever close Chapterling, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice and a refund for any unused Plus period you've paid for.
Changes and law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app first. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
